Cholula and Puebla
In this tour, we will visit the highlights of this colonial city of Puebla, such as the historic center where we will enjoy the Mexican baroque requirement both in the cathedral and in the Chapel of the Rosary.
Likewise, we will walk tour through some of the most popular streets of the historic center of Puebla as they are, the streets of the sweets and the street of the Sapos or Frogs where you will find a great variety of antiques and of course the artists’ neighborhood.
Cholula. The great Pyramid of Cholula is known as Tlachihualtepetl (artificial mountain). Due to its dimensions, it is considered one of the largest in the world. Below the pyramid there are a series of tunnels that are interconnected and the architectural style is closely related to that of Teotihuacan in the Valley of Mexico.
We will visit this impressive archaeological zone and the sanctuary of the Virgen de los Remedios which was built in the 16th century on the top of this pyramid.
Finally, we will finish off this splendid day with a visit to the church of Tonanzintla, the interior decoration of the temple corresponds to the indigenous baroque style, consisting of an exuberant decoration with indigenous motifs, such as angels with feather plumes, with flower garlands, with costumes of an eagle knight and with indigenous features, fruits and plants.
