Chiapas in Four or Six Days

Day 1

Fly to Tuxtla Gutierres arrive before 3:00 p.m. Transfer to San Cristobal de las Casas. On the way, stop to take a private boat trip into the impressive Sumidero Canyon. Overnight in the colonial city of San Cristobal.

Day 2

Spend the day exploring the nearby Indian villages and the colonial city of San Cristobal. Overnight in San Cristobal. (If you wish you can spend another day in San Cristobal there is plenty to do around here).

Day 3

On the way to Palenque visit the massive Mayan Pyramid of Toniná and the Agua Azul Blue Waterfalls. Overnight in Palenque. (If your main interest is to see more of the enchanted ancient Maya temples you may choose to spend two nights in Palenque so on Day 4. you do a full day tour to Yaxchilán and Bonampak returning to sleep in Palenque, and then on day 5 you can visit Palenque followed by a transfer to the airport).

Day 4

Early visit to the most magnificent ancient site in the Maya world, Palenque. After a full visit to the site two hour drive to the Villahermosa airport.

This trip can also be done the other way around, starting in Villahermosa and ending in Tuxtla.
