Past year 2020, Mexico exported over 125,000 tons of avocado from Michoacán to the United States.
Avocado exports represent revenue of approximately MXN $5 billion for Michoacán and Mexico.
Experts on both sides of the borderline agree: “Avocado exports to the U.S. represent the most successful example of binational collaboration between sanitary authorities of each country”.
January is the month of highest demand for this Mexican fruit mainly because of its use in guacamole during the Super Bowl!
According to APEAM (Mexican association of avocado exporters and producers) the #SuperBowl is the main occasion on which avocados and guacamole are served and prepared, with a rich of approximately 30 million football fans in love with the Mexican dish.
Avocados from Mexico are exported to 34 countries around the world, although Michoacán and Jalisco stand out for being the only Mexican states that can export to countries like the United States, Canada and Japan.
