The Narrowest House
This narrow house (1.40 meters = 4.6 ft wide) is a 4 story construction that preserves all furniture and services you can find inside an ordinary house since the Melgoza family used to live in there from 1985.
The small section of land property in between other 2 homes was for sale, as Mr. Melgoza recalls, so he was decided to buy the land and build a house for his new family.
He said his idea was in his mind thanks to the short distance from the market where he used to sell his products; perfect location!
As the 3 kids of the family lived in there next to mom and dad, they have small furniture, toys, school books & notebooks, besides all basic services in an ordinary house but limited space, of course!
It was back to year 1999, with all papers needed, when Mr. Melgoza was doing all the effort to let the world´s Guiness records include this house as the “world´s narrowest house” and he was surprised when he got the positive response in June 2003.
To present day, the Melgoza family is no longer living in the house as the kids grew up, we can imagine there is no room for all the adults any more but, the small house is still a museum open to tourists in Uruapan, Michoacan.
