TLAQUEPAQUE

The historic center of tlaquepaque can be visited in different ways.

This place is located six miles from the historic center of Guadalajara, it is a different municipality but the same metropolitan area. Founded in the 17th century by the inhabitants of Guadalajara and it slowly became a summer resort, after a while different crafts with indigenous roots were developed until today, being the most important artisan center in the west of the country.

The most important crafts produced in this place are: Furniture, leather products. paper mache, blown glass, gold and silver jewelry etc. The buildings from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries that belonged to the wealthy people of this town, were converted into shops.

Today we will see Tlaquepaque with some of the statues produced by local sculptors, such as Camilo Ramirez, Rodo Padilla, Sergio Bustamante and Agustin Parra, located on the Independencia pedestrian street, which is the most important.
